OFFICINE MARCONI - the project

The plan to reuse the former Italcable building is based on the principles of

-flexibility, so that different ideas can each find their own ideal space;
-sustainability, both environmental and economic, so that the building fits in with the setting and the district.

Change is minimal: in order to preserve the identity and charm that the building still emits today, it has been decided to leave all the interiors almost intact and to keep all the building structures. The only work will be to bring the complex into line with standards and provide it with the equipment needed for its new role.

Meeting safety standards involves building 6 new emergency staircases and toilets, replacing doors and windows, redoing the electrics and the heating systems, and setting up data transmission networks.

“Officine Marconi” will be:

a free area generating a multitude of flows and connections;

a new piece of architecture made of light, colours and contrasts, where the new dialogues with the simplicity of the existing structure;

a structure that communicates and transmits messages to the outside;

a place ‘rebuilt’ in relation with the setting, the district, the city.
