Promozione Danza 1

Romaeuropa Promozione Danza has been recognised by the Prime Minister’s Office –Department of Entertainment – as an organisation for the promotion of dance. To spread, to train and to conserve, these are the targets Romaeuropa Promozione Danza wants to achieve. A commitment that since 1996 has focused on introducing, spreading and bringing out the art of movement within a wider national and international circuit, and has led to the setting up of training initiatives that are the outcome of the close collaboration of entities and institutions. Starting from 2002, Romaeuropa Promozione Danza has been working for the creation of a comprehensive and innovative Multimedia Platform for Contemporary Dance, producing a CD-Rom containing an overview of the current state of Italian contemporary dance.

Distributed through diverse channels (specialised press, international festivals, online communication, etc., the CD-Rom, intended as a tool for cultural operators, has been successful in reaching a truly large number of potential users (a total of 100,000 have been distributed). The CD-Rom contains an overview of dance styles and trends seen from unusual angles while providing information on the artists involved thereby allowing operators (both national and international) to contact Italian choreographers and dancers and thus invite them to take part in festivals and events. It was with a similar spirit – i.e. to promote and sustain emerging dance artists – that Palladium Danza was set up, a key initiative directed by Francesca Manica that has emerged as one of the highlights of the Teatro Palladium playbill.

RE 6

In the past years the following important names have been featured: Emma Scialfa, Cinzia Scordia, Alessandra Fazzino, Fabio Ciccalé, Antonio Montanile and Antonio Tagliarini - artists who investigate contemporary themes and are characterised by highly innovative styles. Romaeuropa Promozione Danza has also launched a new project, entitled “The new audiences: dance in schools”, which is part of the wider “Quest for New Audiences” initiative, directed by Rebecca Raponi. The training course foresees stages, workshops, master classes and basic courses by internationally renowned choreographers and dancers, with the aim of bringing the younger generations closer to the art of dance, which is generally neglected in traditional school curricula. In these past years, Romaeuropa Promozione Danza has been actively compiling and spreading an archive, which is the outcome of Fondazione Romaeuropa’s rich documental heritage (comprising paper and audiovisual records) on the best national and international productions, as well as on the most interesting emerging artists. This heritage is periodically shared with the audience through the organisation of important video screenings and performances within emerging cultural shows.
