PALLADIUM world prèmiere

If the temperature of the atmosphere rises by one degree the sea would submerge a part of the lands in the Bay of Bengal; if it rises by four degrees, Venice and St. Tropez would go. While a six-degree rise would lead to widespread desertification. Be they false or true, the apocalyptical prophesies of weather experts provide the cue to Santasangre’s Seigradi (”Sixdegrees”), the representation of the occult phases of the biosphere and the solemn cycle of water.
However, the adventure of the ecosystem is not viewed through scientific or clinical eyes but through a theatricality that is powerful and mysterious; through a staging that is essential and minimalist, that brings together something that is intensely primeval with something that is acutely technological.
Seigradi is, in fact, a polyptych that opens by focusing on the aquatic roots - obscure and still formless - of the living being that successively develops in the efflorescence of life forms and their countenances. A multiplicity that seems to be at the origin of their decadence.
The emblematic conclusion poses a question on life cycles, on beginnings and on the nature of circularity.
The journey is conducted under the sign of an all-powerful array of symbols according to a surreal and poetic vision of the rhythm of life and its deeply underlying pulsations.
The title “Concerto” also alludes to the peculiar work of this company, although it would be preferable to consider it as a collective, for each of the components making up Santasangre comes from different backgrounds. The blending of heterogeneous languages, such as body art, video, music, installation, electronic setting, holograms, sound sculptures and movements, takes place through an accurately concerted stratification of the intimate resonances of these art forms.

Santasangre is a project of artistic development born in Rome in the early years of the new millennium. Since 2003 it has been resident theatre company at Kollatino Underground, an independent cultural center in the outskirts of Rome. Santasangre is the result of the meeting of different personalities; its journey has got the aim to investigate that blank space existing beyond the defined language, to pass through new forms and contents, to start a process of expressive contamination on a transversal plank touching the most significative styles of performing arts such as video, music, body art and environment aesthetics design. Santasangre’s need of expression takes the work further, beyond every particularity and every complementary experience, to be realized in a bold fusion of expanded languages and addiction of signs. Santasangre’s work distinguishes itself by creating interferences with the present time, and by exploring the endless possibilities of the artistic expression.
