BRANCALEONE

A French Trio from Bordeaux, comprising Jean aka Turbo J (synth and keyboards), Kloe (voice) and Niko (guitars), Akouphen creates a music that blends harmony and the elegance of drum n’ bass with jungle, hip-hop and house. The very young Paris DJ Missilll brings to Rome her unique sound made up of street-style and old-school sounds, alluring synths and basses, nu-metal guitars all combined with the rough, rave party, aesthetics: it is the new glitch-hop à la français, nu-jungle celebrating absolute rhythm.

Media crossbreeding sound contaminations, liturgical celebration of rhythm. Now in its sixth year, Sensoralia presents at Romaeuropa the different inflexions of music during the digital age. Not just a festival, Sensoralia is a dizzying journey into a universe of sound and images that stimulate the sensory perception of novices and satisfy the cravings of club culture devotees. From the original creativity of Nathan Fake to the refined purity of Dave Clarke’s techno; from the complex deconstructions of Plaid to Akouphen’s absolute crossover, passing through the electro experimentations of Boys Noize and the elegant techno minimalism of 2001&ONE - a selection that moves away from the facile trends of the present, offering an opportunity to discover the latest and most advanced research in contemporary groove. Sensoralia is showcasing a programme that brings together a wide variety of styles and of artists who, however, share a rediscovered taste for melody and who have all gone past the much abused aesthetics of minimalism. Somewhere between entertainment and experimentation, six suggestive live sets are in store - live sets combining music, videos and multimedia performances. A series of synesthetic experiences that set off the dance floors with sheer vitality and enthusiasm, at the same time bringing to light some of the deeper transformations underway in the contemporary world.
