AUDITORIUM PARCO DELLA MUSICA - Sala Sinopoli

Premiere
Following the concerted nature of the Iliad at the 2004 Romaeuropa Festival, Baricco returns with Herman Melville’s classic, this time in a more intimate setting - a setting as terse as the mistral or the relationship the reader develops with books.
A number of chapters of Moby Dick will be translated afresh for the show which is articulated in four “tableaux” (parts) and will see, besides Baricco, also the presence of Paolo Rossi, Stefano Benni and Clive Russell. Different voices to bring to the surface the stylistic dissimilarity of this masterpiece of American literature. Accompanied by music and sustained by the rhythm of the oral narration of Ishmael’s tale, the show will come to its pinnacle with the novel’s most lyrical parts where the sound of the English language will forcefully outline the final drama.

Alessandro Baricco is a writer, artist, stage director and journalist. His books have been translated into thirty languages and are international bestsellers. Principal of Scuola Holden, which he established in 1994, he is also publisher of Fandango Libri, a publishing house created in 2005 togheter with Domenico Procacci.
