A long and exciting night full of events, music and performances to close Romaeuropa Festival 2007.
The Romaeuropa Festival audience is invited to take part, accompanied by an outstanding crew of contemporary artists, on a joyous journey to discover a new cultural site in Rome: chosen as the location for the closing event of the Festival is Officine Marconi in Romanina, at the outskirts of the capital. A place where, following a number of redevelopment initiatives, a true metamorphosis has occurred creating a new social model that has seen the cooperation between local government bodies, private players and cultural entities. A transformation that has allowed this part of the capital to play a key role in that notion of suburban centrality that has been the hallmark of Rome’s metropolitan development. But this time, the process will not be triggered by property redevelopment - the construction of homes or offices - but, rather unexpectedly, by culture. Both in symbolic terms (considering that the venue is named after the inventor of the radio) and in architectural terms (considering the ample spaces afforded by its industrial layout), Officine Marconi is ideally placed to be re-converted into a cultural centre to host hi-tech artistic laboratories, resident artists and socio-cultural activities. A venue symbolically inaugurated at the Romaeuropa festival with a programme that perfectly balances performance and entertainment, so as to encourage artists to combine diverse art, communication and aggregative forms. Not incidentally, featured stars are Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio which will combine music and images. The spaciousness and layout of the spaces will allow performances and installations to be accompanied by dance, electronic images, cinema, sounds, creative bars and screenings. The aim is to have a celebration that becomes a cohabitation of the multifarious forms of urban language and culture, paving the way to the function Officine Marconi will be called to perform in the living fabric of Rome.
The programme is updated to November 2, 2007, and is susceptible to change.
